HIGH PERFORMANCE—NATURALLY!

Do you live an active lifestyle but feel like your get up and go has “got up and went, like in the song “Get Up and Go” by Pete Seeger? Or do you push your body to the max in your workout routine and want to ensure a speedy recovery? Whether you are 22 or 85, a high-performance athlete or high-powered executive you push your body to PERFORM harder than most. Although you may eat right and take supplements, the reality is your body may not be absorbing the vital nutrients it needs to PERFORM at its maximum potential. At the IV Therapy Center in Beverly Hills our team of physicians and scientists have formulated the perfect solution that will not only help you get and go but will also help your body recover appropriately. So, what is in this solution that makes it so perfect? We thought you would never ask!

Vitamin B Complex
B vitamins help you convert proteins and carbohydrates into energy, while helping with cell repair and production. They work synergistically, like instruments in an orchestra, to achieve optimal results. They and their derivatives are involved with metabolic processes, like cellular respiration (a.k.a. glycolysis and the citric acid cycle), where they serve as essential co-factors for enzymatic reactions that convert proteins, fats, and carbohydrates into energy (via the famous and ubiquitous molecule you may remember from our last blog—ATP!).

B-complex vitamins also aid in cellular communication as well as DNA synthesis and regulation, so, yeah, pretty darn important, which is why if you’re deficient in them, you can develop those nasty problems that are so archaic that your grandma might have told you about them but you never really thought they existed in the modern world—like beriberi (caused by deficiency of Vitamin B1 or thiamin) and anemia—which is caused by deficiency of any of the following three: (1) Vitamin B12, a.k.a cyanocobalamin; (2) Folic Acid, or Vitamin B9, but nobody ever calls it Vitamin B9, so don’t say that or you’ll sound silly); or (3) Iron.

Vitamin C
Perhaps the best-known vitamin thanks to the relentless PR efforts of the late Dr. Linus Pauling, Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant, neutralizing the free radicals that are produced during strenuous exercise. It also is an important co-factor in collagen production, thus helping to keep skin and connective tissue youthful, which is so important to support the underlying muscle. More recently, Vitamin C was found to show surprising efficacy in experimental studies in treating COVID-19 in hospitalized patients and is now routinely added to treatment protocols.

Calcium
A proper amount of calcium is paramount to achieving proper muscle contractility, as well as aiding in digestion, promoting restful sleep, and building strong bones. Not only that, calcium, along with Vitamin D, is crucial to ensuring proper regulation of the parathyroid glands—the tiny glands located under your thyroid.

Magnesium
Say hello to calcium’s little friend! Wherever you see calcium, magnesium should be sure to go. In a 2:1 (Ca:Mg) ratio, that is. That ensures optimum absorption of those minerals for good health of bone and other body parts. Magnesium has a calming effect on skeletal muscles throughout the body, which makes it especially good for preventing muscle cramps when you overdo those workouts, as well as those troublesome leg cramps at night. It’s also an anti-inflammatory, helps you sleep at night, and restores energy for the day ahead. And don’t forget: the heart is also a muscle! Therefore, it turns out that magnesium, in modest doses, has an extremely healthy effect on the heart as well.

Taurine and Carnitine
These are amino acids, and to be honest, they’re both a bunch of bull! Seriously! Have you looked at a can of Red Bull lately? I mean, like, read the ingredients? Part of that distinctive flavor comes from the unmistakable taste of taurine. As in El Toro—the Bull! And other energy drinks, in addition to taurine, use carnitine. As in carne asada, or chili con carne?

L-Carnitine
L-Carnitine is great for your heart, and is a fat-burner par excellence. We’ve got no beef with it, because these two amino acids are full of it: (No, boys and girls, not bull. Well, technically, bull is full of them, but I digress.) Energy! So, in combination with tons of caffeine, it’s no wonder that Red Bull gives you “wings.” However, it also doesn’t taste very good either. Well, bully for you, energy drink devotees, but listen up! Our Perform IV’s no bum steer because it gives you both taurine and carnitine, but skips the caffeine, the weird flavors, the sugar (or artificial sweeteners, if you choose sugar-free Red Bull) and the middleman—in this case, the digestive tract—and delivers the most power-packed panoply of nutrients barreling straight for your bloodstream, where they have an immediate impact to give you peak performance.

N-acetyl L-cysteine (NAC)
This supplement has been getting a lot of press lately, and for good reason. Called “NAC” for short, it has the “knack” for reducing muscle fatigue, enhancing athletic endurance, and increasing lean muscle mass. It is a precursor to the powerful oxidant glutathione. NAC has extremely well-recognized clinical benefits in many areas. It has been used in severe respiratory illnesses, such as cystic fibrosis and COPD, to help dissolve stubborn mucus, and has been demonstrated to help improve such patients’ breathing. It’s easy to see why we add NAC to our Perform IV.

L-Glutamine
This is another essential amino acid. After a hard workout, it stimulates growth hormone production to speed up recovery, increases lean body mass, and helps rebuild and hydrate muscle cells by improving blood flow through the vessels.

Zinc
Long recognized as a mineral that helps to repair tissues damaged by exertion, zinc is also clinically proven to work synergistically with Vitamin C. Further, zinc has been shown to have antibacterial and antiviral properties, which have made it a prominent part of many anti-COVID prophylactic as well as therapeutic protocols in patients hospitalized with the virus, with fairly impressive results. Finally, in men, zinc has been shown to increase testosterone levels and build muscle, which are helpful in increasing athletic performance.

In conclusion, you simply can’t get this combination of nutrients in a pill, and even if you could, it wouldn’t have the direct effect of straight-to-the-cell delivery that the Perform IV gives you. For optimum performance, just take one PERFORM IV once a month! At IV Therapy Center, you’ll feel on fleek!
